VGM submission email template (English)

Send the verified gross mass of each packed container to the carrier or forwarder before the VGM cut-off, as SOLAS requires. The emails are in English, the usual language of international trade. Nothing you type is sent to Triplicate.

Tips for this email

  1. The VGM is the weight of the packed container: cargo, packaging, pallets, dunnage and securing material plus the container's tare. Estimates are not allowed.
  2. State the method: Method 1 (the packed and sealed container weighed) or Method 2 (all contents weighed and the tare added, by a method certified in the country of packing).
  3. Have it signed by a person authorised by the shipper (a name in capitals or an electronic signature is usually accepted) and send it before the carrier's VGM cut-off; without a VGM the container should not be loaded.
