Telex release request email template (English)

Ask the carrier or forwarder to release the cargo by telex: you surrender the original bills of lading at origin, and the consignee collects without them. The emails are in English, the usual language of international trade. Nothing you type is sent to Triplicate.

Tips for this email

  1. Ask for a telex release only after you have been paid or are otherwise secured: once the originals are surrendered, the consignee can take delivery without presenting one. Do not use it on D/P terms or under a credit that calls for original bills.
  2. Return the full set of original bills of lading, endorsed if they were issued to order, and settle the charges for your account; carriers usually release only after that.
  3. Ask for written confirmation of the release and give the consignee the B/L number, which it needs to collect the delivery order at destination.
