MSC container tracking
Type a MSC container number or bill of lading number. Triplicate checks it, copies it in the format MSC's site expects and opens MSC's official tracking page, which shows the live status.
MSC at a glance
Triplicate does not track containers itself: it checks the number and sends you to the shipping line's own tracking page, which shows the live status. Prefixes were checked against the BIC owner-code registry in September 2026; lines also use leased containers.

How to track a MSC shipment
Use the container number (on the container doors, the packing list and the bill of lading), the bill of lading number or the booking number. Enter it above: Triplicate checks the format, recognises MSC's codes and opens MSC's official tracking page. A leased container can also travel with MSC; in that case track it with MSC using the B/L or booking number.
How a container number works
A container number (ISO 6346) has 11 characters: a 3-letter owner code, an equipment category letter (U for freight containers), a 6-digit serial number and a check digit. The check digit catches most typing mistakes, so check it before you book or send documents.
If tracking shows nothing
Status usually appears once the empty container is picked up or the full one enters the terminal. If nothing shows, check the number for typos, make sure you are on the right line's site (leased containers can be on any line), try the bill of lading number, or ask your forwarder.
Common questions
Where do I find my MSC bill of lading number?
It is printed at the top of the bill of lading or sea waybill, and it often appears in the booking confirmation and the arrival notice. If a forwarder issued you a house bill of lading, ask them for MSC's master B/L number: that is the number MSC's tracking page knows.
Why does MSC tracking show nothing?
Status usually appears once the empty container is picked up or the full one enters the terminal. Check the number for typos (the check digit catches most of them), try the B/L or booking number instead, or ask your forwarder which shipping line the cargo is booked with.
What does the U in MSCU mean?
The fourth letter is the equipment category: U means a freight container, J detachable freight container equipment and Z a trailer or chassis. The first three letters are the owner code, here MSC.
